SSEI

Socio-technical Systems Engineering Institute (SSEI) of Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences is public funded legal entity and scientific institution registered in Register of Scientific institutions of the Latvia. It was found in 2006. Research directions involve: Logistics information systems and RFID technologies; Hybrid and distributed simulation systems; E-Democracy processes modelling; Socio-technical evaluation of technologies; Use of virtual and augmented reality in the training process and visualisation. The Logistics Information Systems and RFID laboratory is used for joint professional and academic research as public-private partnership unit.  The institute publishes international annual Proceedings of scientific articles “ICTE in Regional Development”.

Egils Ginters is director of Socio-technical Systems Engineering Institute. He is Full time Professor of Information Technologies in the Systems Modelling Department at the Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences. Graduated with excellence from Riga Technical University Department of Automation and Telemechanics in 1984, he got Dr.Sc.Ing. in 1996. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), European Social Simulation Association (ESSA) and Latvian Simulation Society. He participated and coordinated some EC funded research and academic projects: His main field of interests are: systems simulation and logistics information systems.

 

Visvaldis Valtenbergs is a researcher at Socio-technical Systems Engineering Institute and a professor assistant in Political Science Department at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences. He got PhD in Political Science in 2010. His research area is information technologies and social interactions. He participates in FP7-ICT-2009-5 CHOReOS No. 257178 (2010-2013).
